Last Post Before I Go

Hi! This will be my last post before I go for vacation. I've just left my cats at the veterinary clinic for boarding. I feel really bad doing it, but I don't have a choice. No one will take care of them while I'm away. :( I keep going back into my room looking for them, forgetting that they're at the clinic already :( I hope they're going to be fine and that they're not mad at me for leaving them there.

I thought I'd post a picture of them too before I post the last card I made for January.

My Lucas and My Squirt staring out the window.

I love them to pieces. This will be the last time I leave them for boarding....just have to take shorter vacations!!!

Anyway, here's my last card for January. I'll be back in March, hopefully with more inspiration for new cards :) and new pictures for my scrapbook! Hope you like it!

Vacation

Will be vacationing for a month ( Yay!!!) so I'm trying to make some cards before I go. I've been reading through several blogs today. I found a website that makes card layouts and offers contests with wonderful scrap/card goodies for everyone. It's sooo neat! I'll try and join as soon as I get back. But for now, I must say I love Debbie Olson's work. Check out her website!  Here's my card, hope you like it!

Cards Magazine

I just got a Cards Magazine today. I was drawn by the card on the cover and when I started browsing through the magazine...WOW! There were sooo many wonderful cards! They had so many good ideas, wonderful patterned papers, and a wide array of stamps! I must admit, since I'm only a beginner when it comes to cards I don't own a lot of stamps. But looking at all these beautiful cards makes me want to start a stamp collection. I was startled at the price of the magazine though. $19.95 for a small magazine? It was a good thing I had a 40% coupon and it took a lot out of the price of the magazine. Thank you coupons!!! I was thinking of subscribing to it since I enjoyed the magazine a lot, but after looking at the prices of a subscription...I don't think I'll be doing that anymore. $90 for 12 magazines...I REALLY don't think so!

Anyway, after looking at so many nice cards, I thought I could try my hand at making one. Here it is, enjoy! ~ Jean

A Year in Cards Homework: Valentine's Day Cards

Here's was my submission for Kristina Werner's A Year in Cards homework. I made three Valentine's Day cards using Inkadinkado stamps and Making Memories polka dots paper. My camera unfortunately ran out of battery before I could take a picture of the last card. AND to top it off...MY BATTERY CHARGER IS MISSING!

Anyway, here they are, hope you like them!

Hi All! I know I just posted earlier today, it's just that I had no work today and had most of the day to make cards! I thought since Valentine's Day is just around the corner I could make some cards for the occasion. Here they are, hope you like them!

I can't wait to see other people's Valentine's Day cards! Enjoy!

Onesies

Hi all!!! My sister-in-law finally gave birth to a beautiful baby girl! Yay! After so many nephews it would be wonderful to have a niece!!! I've been in a creative block since Sunday, I think I've thrown out 2 cards that I had made already. How long do you guys get creative blocks?!

Anyway I was thinking of my new niece and thought it would be great to make a card with a onesie on it. It's not my style (I usually make simple cards) but I thought I'd try it. Here it is, hope you like it!

If I had a following I would probably make challenges too! Haha! A onesies challenge! I love those challenges, they give you a purpose when you're creating a card. It makes it easier to come up with something. Don't you agree?

Finally Friday - Luv U card entry

Hi Everyone! I was reading one of my favorite blogs today and saw that Kristina had a new challenge! I love her challenges! It was my first time signing up on Two Peas in a Bucket. I was looking through the members gallery...WOW so many creative people!!! Everytime I see these galleries and videos the more I'm convinced to start shopping online for my craft goodies. It's nice how people put down what products they use so that other people can easily look for them if they wanted to. I'm not used to that yet. I'm not sure what brands of card stock I have, they're all kinda just mixed up! Well, I'll let you know once I've started buying online :) Maybe I can post my scrap haul next time!

Anyway here's my submission...hope you like it!

The hearts were made of chipboard I found in the most unlikely places! My husband had a lot of them backing his comic books. And I thought that would be perfect for my crafting! It was only $8.50 for a pack of 100 in his local comic book store!!! Great deal! (I think...) :)

Thrifty Scrapper

I don't know about you, but I'm a very thrifty scrapper/card maker. I know majority of scrappers and card makers prefer buying online (who doesn't love Stampin' Up, Papertrey Ink and Two Peas in a Bucket?!) but most of the time you can find me in Michael's or AC Moore with coupons in hand :) Is there a downside to this? I mean I would LOVE to go crazy shopping at Stampin' Up...I just get more stuff for less at Michael's and AC Moore. Someday I'll get out of this rut and eventually end up buying online. But for now...with coupons in hand...I will be a thrifty scrapper.

I was wondering though, about card making...are the cardstocks online better (thicker) for card making? I see so many card makers using Stampin' Up and Papertrey Ink cardstock. If I were to buy online where would I get my money's worth? Just thinking out loud...

I saw this rich zesty orange cardstock and had to make a few cards out of it...here they are. I hope you'll like them. :)

'Till next time!

Color Inspiration Submission

Oops, my submission was deleted. I think maybe it was because it was attached to the main blog.  So I hope this one works!

And so here is my little Color Inspiration Challenge submission...I hope it's nice enough to be posted there along with the rest of all your wonderful cards! I hope all of you like it!

Bare No More

Yay! I finally have a design for my blog. I was trying to put a design on the background as well but I couldn't figure out how. :(

Anyway, I'll eventually figure it out... hopefully! :)  I don't have much time today but I thought I'd post this card that I made. I love this stamp set from Inkadinkado. And because of all the Make a Card Mondays and Finally Friday videos I'm now also into ribbons! Haha! I haven't quite gotten it as nice as I want, but as usual...practice...practice...I hope you'll like it!!!

I'm a fan of blues and browns so I guess you'll be seeing a lot of it on my cards and scrapbook pages Which reminds me, I have to post some of my scrapbook pages to share with everyone. Coming soon...

My first blog entry.

Hi everyone! This is my first ever blog entry. I got into it from trying to look at all the wonderful cards and scrapbook pages that other people have posted online. I can spend hours just reading and looking through images on these blogs. A year ago, if you'd have asked me, I would have had no idea that so many people were into scrapbooking and card making! I had no idea what a Cuttlebug was or what the Cricut was! For real! One day I asked my husband what Michael's was...after he showed me I was hooked! I think sometimes, secretly, he must regret having shown me hahaha!!! Aw but he is very supportive of my new found hobby. He even critiques my work sometimes and puts in his two cents. Haha!

One of my favorite blogs is that of Kristina Werner. I think I must have watched all of her Make a Card Monday and Finally Friday videos on YouTube! I just love the cards that she makes. I love that they're simple and yet they grab your attention immediately! And her color inspiration challenges...it IS really inspiring. It's also where I found Crafty Girl Designs, by Tessa Wise. She also makes the most wonderful cards I've seen so far. I actually got into card making because of watching YouTube and looking at these blog sites. Here are my very first cards :) Inspired by this wonderfully striped cardstock from The Paper Company. In case any of you are wondering why they're all "baby" themed, my sister-in-law is giving birth this month and I was thinking of her while making these cards :)

I'm not yet very good at taking pictures of my work. Some of the images aren't as clear as most of the websites I've seen...practice...practice...
